Some things have their origins in serendipity – like tea bags or popsicles. But Nano Interactive is based on highly accurate observation and meticulous analysis. We were seeking a way to improve efficiency in online advertising campaigns – and we came up with the answer: by responding to users’ intent in real time. Today, our Search Retargeting method plugs this gap by enabling target persons to be addressed appropriately and accurately.
Why do we rely on current search data? It’s simple. We don’t just want to guess what users are interested in – we want to know. We ignore socio-demographic data, which are not meaningful in our context. We avoid profile data from third-party providers, which may be out of date, and thus worthless. And we avoid lookalike modelling, which is unfeasible in practice because one’s specific user behaviour cannot simply be applied to others.
We’re great at generating new users for our advertisers; and we don’t believe in bombarding existing customers over and over again with classic retargeting, and thus milking an order that would have been made anyway. With our method, our customers can even address users that have shown an explicit intent for their competitors.
Nano Interactive was founded in 2010 by online marketing experts with many years of experience. Today we are among Europe’s leading search-based targeting providers – not least because of our enormous database, which currently contains over 500 million unique user profiles with anonymised search histories. The data partners in our network generate over a billion search queries per month.
All our media buying is programmatic. We are also able to map private marketplace integration and can guarantee all customary quality criteria, including white- and blacklisting, viewability and brand safety. Christian has been actively involved in online marketing for over 15 years. Before joining forces with Carl to found Nano, he spent over ten years as CEO of Munich-based company ValueClick Germany, with responsibility for all business in the DACH and CEE regions.
Father-of-two Christian lives with his family in Starnberg. In his free time he enjoys working on his golf handicap.

Carl has extensive management experience in both online and offline companies. Before co-founding Nano, he was CEO Europe at ValueClick, Inc. and COO at 24/7 Europe, as well as holding a range of executive positions in commercial and editorial teams at the BBC.
Carl lives with his wife and their three children in south-west London.
